Bacon Salad Recipe
I enjoy preparing salads that don’t skimp on nutrition or flavor, and my Bacon Salad is no exception. I blend crisp, meaty bacon (that pairs perfectly with the mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, and cucumber and red onion crunch) with a fantastic salad base.
Feta cheese crumbles are your only hint that a creamy dressing has not somehow slipped in under the radar. And a vinaigrette is light enough so that you can really savor the porky goodness of the bacon.
It’s a cheesy, porky protein punch disguised as a salad. Is it for breakfast or brunch?
Absolutely! But be my guest if you’re craving it for lunch or dinner.

FAQ
- Q: Can I use turkey bacon instead of regular bacon?Q: Is it permissible to substitute turkey bacon in your recipe?
A: Yes. You can substitute turkey bacon, which has less fat, for regular bacon. It will give the dish a slightly different texture and flavor, but that’s okay. It will still taste good.
- Q: Can I prepare the salad ahead of time? You may store all components in the refrigerator if you like. Just before serving the dish, mix the ingredients and add the dressing. This will keep the dish as fresh as possible and prevent unwanted limpness in the greens.
- Q: What other dressings work well with this salad?A lemon vinaigrette or honey mustard dressing would also complement the flavors well.
- Q: How can I make this salad more filling?Boost the protein and healthy fats in this dish by adding one of the following: 1 cup of shredded grilled chicken; 1 cup of cooked chickpeas; or ½ avocado sliced.
- Q: Is there an alternative to feta cheese? You can use crumbled goat cheese or blue cheese for a different flavor if that’s what you prefer.
- Q: Can I add nuts to this salad?Certainly! Walnuts or pecans will add a delightful amount of crunch, and they will bring out the flavors even more in the salad.
Substitutions and Variations

Use grape tomatoes or chopped sun-dried tomatoes instead of cherry tomatoes for a different flavor.
Shallots or green onions can replace red onions for a flavor that’s milder and more subtle.
The cucumber, zucchini, or radishes can add a unique twist to the salad.
Use goat cheese or blue cheese instead of feta cheese to create a different flavor profile.
